The world mourned when flames engulfed Paris’ Notre Dame cathedral, but Dean Lynda Coon and architecture professor Kim Sexton turned tragedy into a curricular opportunity, asking students in their Gothic seminar to reimagine the beloved landmark. Michael Fuhrman, Grace Gill and Susan Tucker conjured up a 21st-century solution and Urbano Soto transformed their ideas into images.

Times of Tension and Turmoil at the University of Arkansas
Last summer, internships moved online, part-time jobs were scarce and study abroad was off the table. Six student historians quarantined at home united virtually to launch the Public History Interest Group, led by Honors College staff members Louise Hancox and Katie Wilson Powell. Challenged to design their own project, students Michael Fuhrman, Cayla McGrail, Sydney Nichols, Jazlyn Sanderson, Emily Snyder and Curtis Worley chose to look to the past to make sense of the present.
